A ice storm is a winter storm of freezed rain. Ice storms are more in common than blizzards. and averaged 16 per year. Ice storms occur when a layer of warm air is between two layers of cold air. The freezing rain from an ice storm cover everything with heavy, smooth, glaze ice. Iced covered roads become slippery and become hazards. Because it causes cars to get out of control and crash while driving. This ice can not only break trees and tree branches but it can also snap power-lines. This storm is really dangerous for people to be outside. The states it most occurs in is in Oklahoma, Columbia River Valley, New York, New England, Pennsylvania, Canada, Virgina and Appalachian Mountain that is where they mostly occur at. Some times it can be so bad that people have to always have to stay in their homes until it's completely done with the storm. Ice storms will freeze anything in it's path. Ice storms have ice, water and snow so it's really heavy.
